How it Works

My next Kickstarter campaign is to launch my French Occupation Series. I will be offering my readers the chance to get the books on Kickstarter before the books are launched on Amazon and other bookshops. This isn't asking a reader to donate, which is a common misconception about Kickstarter. Instead, they are buying the books but with added value because they get exclusive content by backing the book launch on Kickstarter.

Here is a preview of my French Occupation Series on Kickstarter. Please note that this is only a preview page and doesn't show everything on offer, which will only show when the campaign goes live.

As authors, we all know that collaboration with other authors is vital when promoting a new book, especially books in the same genre.

Be Included in a Historical Fiction Look Book

I would like to offer you a chance to have your Historical Fiction book included in my 'Historical Fiction Look Book' which will be given to ALL my backers who pledge for rewards on my campaign. In this 'look book' I am listing various sub-genres of HF to encourage readers to try new sub-genres.

Just to confirm, this is a creative idea for authors to share their historical fiction books amongst readers, plus affordable to do. The Look Book is aimed at encouraging readers to read across all Historical Fiction sub-genres, which many do, but for those who don't, it's a unique way to get readers to cross their genres. And a unique opportunity to have your book exposed to a new reading audience at a very low cost!

For Clarity

Your book is not on offer in my Kickstarter campaign, but...

• Your digital bookmark can be included in the digital bookmark download to all backers - based on your choice of inclusion below. A digital bookmark is a printable keepsake which readers can use time and time again. Kickstarter readers who buy all their books on Kickstarter LOVE bookmarks!
• Your book can be included in the Look Book to all backers - based on your choice of inclusion below.

Timings

1. SEPTEMBER: My Kickstarter campaign goes live on 3rd of September for one month. During this time, I will build backers from mailing my various lists on my Paula Wynne website, plus the Book Luver list, and reciprocal shares.
2. OCTOBER/NOVEMBER: When the campaign ends, after a month, all backers will receive the Bookmarks and Look Book as digital downloads. The exact timings depend on how quickly Kickstarter wraps up the campaign after they send out backer reports and surveys, plus how quickly I get the bookmarks and other details mentioned in the options list below.
3. ONGOING: The Look Book will be added to a Book Luver tab, plus featured in banner ads on the Historical Fiction sub-genre pages.
4. ONGOING: The Look Book will be featured in the first next newsletter going to all Book Luver's mailing lists and my Paula Wynne mailing lists, inviting readers to download the Look Book, with or without your included books (see the list of how to be included below).

What You Do

• You chose to be involved or not. THIS OFFER IS BY INVITATION ONLY FOR AUTHORS I KNOW AND TRUST.
• If you want to be involved, you chose one of the inclusion options below.
• Deadline for completing the form below is 30th August, to give me time to get all the tracking links to the authors included in this promotion. BUT please be aware that there are limited spots in the Look Book, so hurry to decide and choose your option shown below.
• You share my Kickstarter campaign link to your mailing list and on social media. I will send you the tracking link. Tag me on social media. You MUST share within the timelines on your chosen option shown below.
• Or you share, and back a Kickstarter reward. You MUST share and BACK a reward within the timelines on your chosen option shown below.
• If you share my campaign, I share your book in Book Luver's 125K mailing list. You will receive a tracking link to prove you have shared the campaign.
• I will share in October and November, based on first shared and confirmation of first shared.
• You supply your bookmark to me.
• If you also back a Kickstarter reward, you get either your digital bookmark sent to all backers, or your book included in the Look Book.
• You give me your book link - shown below - for me to add it to the Look Book.
• If you chose an option with a reward, which is also called a pledge, you will pay Kickstarter during the campaign period marked out below. You won't pay me. Ultimately, the money will come to me once the campaign is finished, minus the fee Kickstarter takes, and then I will continue marketing the Look Book options.

What I Do

• I send you graphics with a tracking link for the share options. The graphic will show that I have e-books and paperbacks on offer during the campaign. As a reminder, here is a preview of my French Occupation Series on Kickstarter so you can see what the books look like before you make your decision. Please note that this is only a preview page and doesn't show everything on offer, which will only show when the campaign goes live. The live page will also feature the first chapter of each book.
• I include your digital bookmark in the digital bookmark download and send to all backers after the campaign completes.
• I add the Look Book to an update, which means it is live to the public, so anyone seeing the campaign after it completes will still be able to download the Look Book with your book included (based on your choice below).
• I add your book to the Look Book based on your choice of options mentioned below.
• I promote the campaign with shares and mailings during September, with the aim of getting as many backers as possible, from both my marketing activities and hopefully backers on Kickstarter as well.

What Book Details & Links Are Included

Depending on what option you chose from the choice below, you can offer:

• Your book link on Amazon or a universal link.
• Sample chapters to download, thus building your mailing list
• A reader magnet book to also build your mailing list.

Here are FOUR options for you to be involved:

OPTION 1
If you share my campaign link within the first 48 hours of its launch, I'll reciprocate by promoting your book to my Book Luver audience of 125K readers.

OPTION 2
If you share my campaign link within the first 48 hours of its launch, plus back a £5 ($6.51) reward in my campaign within the first 24 hours of its launch, you will receive:

• Option 1, plus the following:
• Your book's digital bookmark will be included in a complimentary set of digital bookmarks offered to all my backers. The beauty of digital bookmarks is that the download can be printed and reused time and again, providing ongoing exposure for your book. You can easily create a digital bookmark using Canva, as they host a huge range of bookmark designs.
• You’d just send that to me and I will include it in my ‘Digital Bookmarks Bundle’ to all my backers.

OPTION 3
If you share my campaign link within the first 48 hours of its launch, plus back a £10 ($13.01) reward in my campaign within the first 12 hours of its launch, you will receive:

• All of option 2, plus the following:
• Your book will be featured in my Historical Fiction Look Book under the section called 'Historical Fiction Titles' with your book's image, title and logline or tag line (one-liner description). No links are offered in this section of the Look Book.

OPTION 4
If you share my campaign link within the first 48 hours of its launch, plus back a £20 (26.01) reward in my campaign within the first 6 hours of its launch, you will receive:

• All of option 3, plus the following:
• Your book will be featured in my Historical Fiction Look Book with its very own page, plus a download or buy link where you can offer sample chapters or an Amazon link or universal book link, as mentioned above.

Note: there are readers rewards to back and writer rewards to back, so you won't have to back a book. You can also choose to back different writing resources via the add-ons. To do this, select a £1 reward, then choose one of the writing resource add-ons for £5, £10 or £20.

What's Next?

1. Once you have made your choice of option inclusions, please complete the details below.
2. I will email you with the graphics and tracking link.
3. Please make sure you remember or record which option you have chosen and the timings involved. For example, if you choose option 3, you must fulfil that agreement, or you won't be included in the option you have chosen. The options above lay out the timings very clearly, but if you have any questions, please contact me.
4. When you have backed the reward and shared as per the choices above, send me your confirmation. I will add you to the schedule and start to prepare your inclusion in the digital bookmark download or the Look Book.
5. Please note that both of these will not be sent to backers or the mailing lists mentioned until after the campaign ends and Kickstarter has confirmed your contribution via the backer report. When I have that info, I will confirm your inclusion. This is to prevent anyone pulling out or cancelling their pledge during the campaign and still receiving the benefit of the listed options.
6. Finally, when all the details are gathered and included in the different options, I will start promoting both the bookmarks and the Look Book.
